The Emoticon Theatre is one of the stations for the participants’ journeys through the Temple of Play. The activities of the Emoticon Theatre will take place in a designated area where participants will explore portraiture and the art of making faces both physically and digitally. 'Emoticon' is a word describing small symbols showing facial gestures, designed to help us express an emotion during online communication. The Emoticon Theatre includes references to early examples of children’s art books, such as The Cubies from 1913, as well as Italian artist Alighiero Boetti’s Faccine colorate and the artist's own online archive of photos called the International Portrait Gallery
